I’m a doodler, plain and simple. If I’m on the phone, my pencil is moving. Most of it is nonsense—little geometric shapes, half‑shaded boxes, lines that go nowhere. It passes the time, and honestly, it helps me focus.
Not every sketchbook needs to be fancy. Some are made for watercolor, but you don’t always need the heavy paper. Sometimes you just need something simple. If you’ve ever played tic‑tac‑toe by yourself, you know the feeling.
These brown ones come in a pack from Amazon, and they’re just about right. Nothing precious about them. No leather cover that makes you hesitate before making a mark. Just brown. Simple and brown. You could probably make a stitched leather cover for one, and when you fill it up, slip in another.
I’ve gone through four or five of these. I leave them everywhere—one in the vehicle, one on the workbench, one on the coffee table. Always there when you need it. Plain and simple.
